Making stock is very easy and it's a great way to use up any old left over veggies lurking in your fridge!

You can use up leftover chicken bones/skin etcbut you can just leave out for a vegetable stock. This is what we use :

  • Celery - you can use the tops as well
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Carrot
  • Parsley
  • Salt
  • Bay leaves x 2
  • Peppercorns x 4

Use a 4MyEarth Bamboo Produce bag to hold all the ingredients when making your stock.

We use our 4MyEarth Bamboo Produce bag to put all the ingredients inside. This way once we have our stock we can just pull out the bag and dispose of the leftovers straight into the bin. Make sure you wash the bag after use.

Place all your ingredients into the bag then pop into a big pot and cover with water.

4MyEarth Bamboo produce bags great as a stock bag

Bring to a boil and immediately reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer covered for at least 4 hours.

Once done remove the 4MyEarth Bamboo bag (or if not using our bag use a slotted spoon to remove the vegetables etc). Strain the stock through a fine mesh sieve and pour into bottles. You can also leave this in fridge overnight and using a  ladle remove some of the excess fat on the surface. The fat helps preserve the stock in the fridge but  is not needed if you are freezing your stock.

Our Bamboo produce bags make great nut milk bags too!
